A Word from the Chief Executive Officer
Sometimes it is hard to believe all that has been accomplished since I arrived at T.H.E. Clinic on November 2, 2009. T.H.E. is an embracing, welcoming community of care, providing nationally renowned health services that treat and empower each of our more than 12,190 patients and raise the quality of life in the neighborhoods we serve. For the past 38 years, T.H.E. Clinic has been a consistent, contributing member of the community with a reputation for excellence that’s been passed down through the generations.
The past 12 months have been remarkable in the history of the organization. T.H.E. expanded beyond its previously first and only site at the Ruth Temple Western Avenue location now counting six additional clinical service sites at the Lennox School District, Dorsey High School, Crenshaw High School, Homeless Outreach Program and Integrated Care Services (HOPICS), and a mobile clinic providing outreach and other services. Over the next several years, our continued expansion effort will enable us to serve an estimated 14,000 or more individuals and their families with much needed medical, dental, mental health, and other services, helping those in greatest need of low-cost, quality, affordable health options.
Recognizing our ongoing commitment to high quality patient care and enhancement of the overall patient experience, The Joint Commission recently awarded T.H.E. Clinic the Gold Seal of Approval as an ambulatory care organization. With this designation, T.H.E. now joins an elite list of top medical providers across the United States. In addition, T.H.E. Clinic is among the very first ambulatory care organizations in the country to also be awarded a new Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH) designation from the Joint Commission.
In a time where economic challenges have threatened even the most seasoned amongst us, T.H.E. has reduced expenses through efficient management of resources, and has strengthened its revenues, rising from $5 million in 2009 to over $6.7 million in 2011. By restructuring for growth and sustainability, in addition to collaborating with more than 25 new Foundation and Community partners, T.H.E. Clinic will become a model of sustainability before, during and after the implementation of Health Care Reform.
It is my pleasure to serve as Chief Executive Officer for T.H.E. Clinic. I am in awe of the wonderful services provided by our dedicated staff in all of our sites working hard each day to bring the best to each of our valued patients. Together we will continue moving T.H.E. Clinic forward on a path to a brighter future.
Warm Regards,
Risë K. Phillips, MPH, MBA
